Earlier this month, both Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson posted to their social media confirming that they were back to work, with posts acknowledging that they are on set and shooting the follow-up to their 2019 movie, Captain Marvel. Fans were clamoring to share their excitement, especially as though rumored, this was the first acknowledgment that Nick Fury would be pairing with Carol Danvers in the sequel.

Despite many trolls and haters, the first Captain Marvel was both a critical and box office success. Though some fanboys want to try and take away the success of the first solo female-led Marvel movie, the film took in $1.128 billion during its time in the theaters - becoming the eighth highest-grossing Marvel film out of the 24 released to date.

Larson has many devoted fans who love her as Danvers and have been following her transition over the pandemic, with her beginning her workout as filming began to draw closer. Though many detractors have tried to make a big deal out of the fact that the name was changed from Captain Marvel 2 to The Marvels, any long-time fan will tell you that most Marvel Movies have a generic placeholder title until the release date is revealed at Comicon. That's it—no big drama.

With both Jackson and Larson back and the addition of Teyonah Parris as the adult Monica Rambeau and the introduction of the character of Ms. Marvel being played by Iman Vellani, the anticipation for the film has reached a fervor pace. The villain herself has not been named but has been cast with Zawe Ashton, and the astonishingly talented cast is being led by director Nia DaCosta who is fresh off of Candyman.

Shooting takes place in Surrey, England, at Longcross Studios, home to many a Marvel film.
